On Friday, 22 July 2022, Impisi celebrated Mandela Day by assisting at the Jack Cotton old age home in Krugersdorp West.
Jack Cotton Old age home has been operating for over 30 years, where it has accommodated more than 90 people. This home is a multi-racial place with 92 units filled with pensioners who have to take care of themselves.
As part of the Mandela month, Impisi Fibre visited the area with a notion of doing a lot more and ensuring that the elders are well-taken care of. After a thorough review of the place, Impisi Fibre donated geysers to the elderly as it was believed that some of the pensioners use cold water to bath. Staff members of Impisi Fibre, joined by Logistics Manager Johannes Roets and Managing Director Calvin Maluleka, spent their morning cleaning up the yard and planting some vegetables seeds. We were fortunate enough to receive donation from Culterra, where they gave away bags of compost for the vegetable garden.
Additionally, the staff members pampered some of the pensioners by washing their feet and painting their nails, while the rest of the team was outside cleaning up the yard. We gave away fire extinguishers and had them installed and gave away warm clothes to a gentleman who is believed he monitors and handles the vegetable garden for the elderly people.”
